Payroll Specialist


Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll professional to join their busy team on a permanent basis

Duties include;
  • Manage end-to-end monthly payroll and pensions on a high-volume basis
  • Ensure accurate calculation of wages, deductions, bonuses, and benefits
  • Review and approve payroll reports before final submission
  • Ensure compliance with local, national, and international payroll laws and regulations
  • Prepare and submit statutory filings (e.g., HMRC in the UK)
  • Maintain accurate records for audits and internal reviews
  • Maintain and update payroll systems and employee records
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance to ensure data integrity
  • Implement system upgrades or transitions when needed
  • Respond to payroll-related queries from employees
  • Provide guidance on payslips, tax codes, and deductions
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes from a payroll perspective
  • Identify and implement improvements to payroll processes
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures
  • Train junior payroll staff or HR team members
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities related to payroll
  • Lead or contribute to cross-functional projects (e.g., mergers, acquisitions, system integrations)
  • Dealing with complex queries effectively
  • Assessing historical data and rectifying errors

You will have;
  • Payroll software proficiency and worked with an integrated system previously
  • Data accuracy and reconciliation experience
  • Advanced Excel skills – lookups and pivot tables
  • Deep understanding of UK payroll legislation, including, PAYE, National Insurance
  • Statutory payments (SSP, SMP, etc.) and ability to complete manual calculations
  • Ability to stay updated on HMRC regulations and employment law
  • CIPP Qualified
  • Pension exposure
