Your new company

We are proud to be supporting a highly respected, family-owned UK retailer in the recruitment of a Payroll professional. The business recently achieved a record turnover of £220 million, reflecting its continued growth and strong market presence. Known for exceptional customer service, a people-first culture, and significant investment in innovation, this company offers a dynamic and rewarding environment for professionals looking to build a meaningful career in retail.

Your new role

As a Payroll Professional, you’ll play a key role in a busy Payroll & Benefits team, managing end-to-end payroll processing for over 1,000 colleagues. Your responsibilities will include ensuring compliance and accuracy, handling statutory payments, timesheet calculations, and administering employee benefits such as pensions. You’ll also support reporting and analysis tasks, including National Living Wage and Gender Pay Gap data, and act as a trusted point of contact for payroll queries across the business. Additionally, you’ll contribute to the rollout of new payroll and HR solutions aimed at improving efficiency and supporting the wider team.

What you'll need to succeed

To succeed in this role, you’ll need proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing, strong Excel skills (including VLOOKUPs), and a solid understanding of payroll compliance. You should be confident in decision-making, able to prioritise tasks effectively, and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively. Experience in a multi-site or retail environment, and familiarity with payroll system integration, would be advantageous. Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential.

What you'll get in return

In return, you’ll receive a competitive salary and benefits package, including 33 days' holiday (including bank holidays), contributory pension and life assurance, outstanding colleague discounts, and access to wellbeing and counselling support. You’ll also benefit from a profit-sharing bonus and opportunities to support charitable causes. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a values-driven organisation that truly invests in its people.
