HR and Payoll Officer, up to 150 per day, min 3 month assignment, mainly WFH, 1 day Bristol
We have an exciting opportunity for an interim Payroll and HR Operations Officer in well established public sector organisation in Central Bristol.
The Role
The successful candidate will join the People Services Team, who are responsible for processing and running Payroll; liaising with our Pension provider to ensure timely and effective pension updates and; providing first line People (HR) customer support through coordinating, administering and processing a range of People related activities.

The successful candidate will join the People Services Team, who are responsible for processing and running Payroll; liaising with our Pension provider to ensure timely and effective pension updates and; providing first line People (HR) customer support through coordinating, administering and processing a range of People related activities.
Key to this role will be a focus on supporting the delivery of our monthly Payroll and supporting our pension provision in collaboration with the Senior Payroll and HR Operations Officer, third party providers and the wider People Services Team.
The successful candidate will also provide support to the People Services Team via a mentoring and skills development/transfer approach.
- Payroll related role.
- Experience of mentoring of People Services/Payroll team members
- Extensive experience of supporting and being back up Lead on Payroll delivery – including inputting, processing, running and checking of Payroll
- Experience of Pension processing and administration
- Highly IT literate with experience of MS Office/databases and People related systems – preferably SAP.
- Effective and inclusive communicator with ability to adapt communications to a range of audiences with varying levels of experience.
- Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to judge priorities whilst working on multiple projects, and attention to detail particularly with data.
- Experience of supporting Payroll process improvement
- Understanding and effective application of GDPR legislation
- Payroll related experience and ideally payroll qualification
- Experience of mentoring of People Services/Payroll team members
