Our client is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join their team on a temporary assignment to start this Autumn
Duties include;
- Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions on a monthly basis.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws and statutory regulations.
- Maintain and update payroll records.
- Input and verify employee data such as hours worked, leave taken, and benefits.
- Prepare and submit payroll-related reports to HMRC or other relevant authorities.
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, pension schemes, and tax regulations.
- Respond to payroll-related queries from staff.
- Provide payslips and explain deductions or adjustments.
- Liaise with HR and Finance departments to ensure accurate employee data.
- Coordinate with external auditors or payroll service providers if applicable.
- Prepare P60s, P45s, and other year-end documentation.
- Assist with annual audits and reconciliations.
- Use payroll software Midland i-Trent to manage payroll functions.
- Troubleshoot system issues and implement updates or changes.
- Payroll software proficiency in Midland i-Trent
- Strong end-to-end payroll processing experience
- Strong Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, vlookups)
- Understanding of payroll legislation including PAYE, NI, pensions, statutory payments
- Data analysis for reporting and reconciliations
- Familiarity with HMRC regulations, RTI submissions, and pension auto-enrolment
