Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Payroll Manager to lead and oversee the payroll function within a dynamic and supportive organisation. This role is responsible for managing the full payroll lifecycle, ensuring accurate and timely employee payments, and maintaining compliance with all statutory requirements. The Payroll Manager will also play a key role in supporting the wellbeing of the workforce and driving continuous improvement within the payroll function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and support the payroll team to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees.
  • Oversee the upload of BACS files and manage PAYE coding updates.
  • Review monthly payroll journals, control account reconciliations, and ensure timely payment of PAYE and AOE.
  • Administer pension contributions, auto-enrolment processes, and related communications.
  • Manage calculations and deductions for holiday, absence, sick pay, and statutory sick pay.
  • Ensure completion of all Tax Year-End procedures, including issuing P60s.
  • Maintain compliance with internal controls and liaise with external auditors as required.
  • Provide leadership, training, and support to payroll staff.
  • Collaborate effectively with HR and Finance teams.
  • Generate payroll reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to payroll budgeting and forecasting.
  • Engage with senior leadership to support strategic planning.
  • Prepare and file tax reports in line with statutory deadlines.
  • Respond to employee payroll queries and resolve discrepancies.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve payroll processes for efficiency and compliance.
  • Review and update payroll policies and procedures; develop new policies as needed.
  • Maintain and enhance payroll systems, including ongoing development of the HR/payroll platform.
