Job Title: Payroll Manager
Location: Based in Powys, Wales, SY22
Salary: £45,000

Overview: A well-established organisation in the agricultural sector is seeking an experienced Payroll and Benefits Manager to join its People and Culture team. This leadership role is pivotal in delivering a high-quality payroll and benefits function, supporting the company’s people strategy and operational goals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring compliance with legal and internal standards.
  • Develop and manage payroll, pensions, and benefits procedures and governance.
  • Oversee internal payroll staff and external partners to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Manage company pension schemes, ensuring data integrity and compliance.
  • Support the implementation of a new HRIS and payroll system, including configuration and testing.
  • Review and enhance current benefits offerings; assist in rolling out flexible benefits.
  • Coordinate with benefit intermediaries for renewals and employee communications.
  • Deliver annual payroll activities such as pay reviews, bonuses, and gender pay gap reporting.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on payroll legislation and benefits, including PAYE, IR35, and BIK.
  • Collaborate with Finance for accurate reporting and audit compliance.

Candidate Profile:
  • Professionally qualified in payroll (e.g., CIPP) or equivalent experience.
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, tax, and benefits.
  • Proven experience managing complex payrolls in multi-entity environments.
  • Proficient in payroll systems (e.g., Pegasus, Sage) and reporting tools.
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Able to work independently and manage high volumes of data.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex issues clearly.
