On behalf of Birmingham City Council, we are recruiting for a Personal Assistant (PA) to the Director of Economy & Skills within the Place, Prosperity & Sustainability Directorate. This is an exciting opportunity to support a senior leader within a directorate responsible for driving economic growth, regeneration, sustainability, planning, transport and investment across the city. You'll join a supportive and collaborative team environment and play a key role in helping senior leadership deliver strategic priorities during a period of organisational change and transformation.
Your new role
As Personal Assistant to the Director of Economy & Skills, you will provide high-level administrative and organisational support while working closely with the PA to the Executive Director, who will oversee and provide guidance for the role. Your responsibilities will include complex diary and inbox management, coordinating meetings, preparing agendas, taking meeting notes, and handling a variety of ad hoc administrative tasks. You will be supporting senior leaders through a period of organisational change, requiring professionalism, discretion and the ability to manage sensitive information. This is a full-time role working 36.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with flexible working hours between 8am and 6pm and a hybrid working arrangement.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you will have a strong PA background gained within either the public or private sector and be confident in supporting senior leadership teams. You will be highly organised, dependable and responsive, with excellent communication and judgement. You'll be comfortable managing competing priorities, working in an evolving environment and handling sensitive matters with discretion. Strong Microsoft Office skills are essential, with experience of SharePoint, Microsoft Lists or Copilot being advantageous. You will be proactive, resilient, adaptable and open to the opportunity becoming permanent. The ability to build effective working relationships and work closely with colleagues at all levels is key.
