- Deputise for the Nursery Manager.
- Supervise and appraise nursery staff, as directed.
- Ensure the preschool nursery is a safe environment for children, staff, and others always, including maintaining staff ratios and stepping into classes when necessary.
- Develop partnerships with parents/carers to increase involvement in their child’s development.
- Be responsible for any tasks delegated by the Nursery Manager.
- Work alongside the SENCO and therapy team to ensure all children’s needs are met.
- Managing, supporting, and directing staff.
- Developing a strong and respectful partnership with parents.
- Ensuring the environment encourages children to learn independence.
- Teaching in the classrooms as needed.
- Enabling children with special/additional needs to integrate into the EYFS provision.
- Planning and supporting staff to deliver a wide range of exciting and varied activities.
- Leading in a nursery classroom when required.
- Proactively looking for ways to develop the department.
- Monitoring and evaluating practices that support children’s education and development.
- Creating an environment where children feel safe and content.
- Ensuring accurate reporting in respect of occupancy, quality, and standards.
- Maintaining proper records.
- Working with senior management to update and review self-evaluation and development plans.
- Ensuring policies are implemented in the setting.
- Inducting and supporting staff to ensure delivery of exceptional quality childcare practice.
- Developing a strong team to meet and exceed all relevant standards.
- Identifying training needs, developing training plans, and evaluating training undertaken by staff.
- Experience in overseeing delivery of the EYFS.
- Minimum NVQ Level 3 or acceptable equivalent.
- Additional training and/or qualifications relevant to working in a nursery.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the EYFS and other relevant governmental guidance.
- Knowledge and experience of planning, developing, and enhancing pupils’ learning.
- Confident communication skills, both written and oral.
- The ability to apply all Side by Side policies, including its Equal Opportunities policy.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Calm and caring nature.
- Experience working with children with additional and special educational needs.
