Role Purpose
This senior mobile engineering role is responsible for delivering high‑quality planned, reactive and statutory maintenance across multiple facilities within the Montrose area. The position acts as the technical lead for electrical systems while also supporting mechanical, HVAC and general building services. The role requires autonomy, strong safety awareness, professional communication, and the ability to maintain consistent engineering standards across several sites.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Maintenance
- Carry out maintenance, repair, testing and operation of electrical systems, plant and building services.
- Diagnose electrical faults and complete corrective repairs in line with current regulations.
- Perform statutory inspections, testing and safety checks with accurate documentation.
Multi‑Skilled Support (Mechanical / HVAC / Fabric)
- Support maintenance activities across mechanical and HVAC systems, including pumps, motors, valves and air handling equipment.
- Conduct routine building walkdowns to identify defects and ensure timely resolution.
Compliance, Documentation & Safety
- Follow strict QHSE procedures and safe systems of work for all engineering tasks.
- Maintain accurate digital records of maintenance activities, asset updates and inspections.
- Complete pre‑task and dynamic risk assessments to ensure safe working environments.
Leadership & Coordination
- Provide senior technical guidance to other mobile engineers, supporting complex problem‑solving and best practice.
- Liaise with and supervise subcontractors to ensure safe, compliant and high‑quality service delivery.
- Participate in the on‑call rota for emergency response when required.
Customer & Stakeholder Interaction
- Present a professional and reliable engineering presence across all sites.
- Build strong working relationships with site personnel, operational teams and support functions.
- Communicate clearly and provide technical guidance where needed.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential Qualifications
- Level 3 Electrical Qualification (NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds equivalent).
- 18th Edition (advantageous).
Experience
- Strong experience in a multi‑skilled maintenance engineering role within commercial, industrial or facilities environments.
- Proven background in electrical maintenance, PPM and reactive fault‑finding.
- Experience supporting mechanical or HVAC systems.
- Competence in using CAFM/CMMS systems for job logging and compliance.
Technical Competence
- Ability to diagnose and repair complex electrical and mechanical faults.
- Solid understanding of compliance frameworks, including risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
- Awareness of building service regulations and industry best practice.
Soft Skills
