Senior Practitioner job (adults) – Community project Teams – Birmingham
Your new company
Birmingham City Council is seeking experienced Senior Practitioners to join our Adults Social Care Community Project Teams. This is a key leadership role within frontline practice, supporting high-quality, citizen-focused social work across Adult Social Care. You will hold responsibility for either a complex caseload alongside supervisory duties, or for leading practice improvement activity that enhances outcomes for adults.
Your new role
- Deliver high-quality statutory social work practice in line with the Care Act 2014
- Provide professional oversight, supervision and support to Social Workers within a designated cluster
- Lead on complex cases, risk management and decision-making
- Support staff to meet duties under the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and related legislation
- Model best practice, promote strengths-based approaches and ensure safeguarding procedures are followed.
- Work collaboratively with partners to ensure joined-up, outcome-focused support for citizens
- Contribute to service improvement, performance monitoring and staff development
What you'll need to succeed
- At least 2 years post-qualification permanent experience in Adults Social Care
- Experience operating at Senior Practitioner level or equivalent
- Strong working knowledge of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 (and Mental Health Act where applicable)
- Proven capability of supervising staff and managing complex practice
- Confidence in professional decision-making, risk assessment and safeguarding
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, public-sector environment
