Salary: £35,000–£41,000 per annum Location: Cambridge Contract: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join the team, supporting the effective operation, maintenance, and development of a diverse and historic property portfolio. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the long‑term sustainability, resilience, and performance of complex building systems within a dynamic and evolving estate.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise on mechanical building services across a wide range of facilities.
  • Lead on the planning, design, and delivery of mechanical engineering projects, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and best practice.
  • Carry out assessments, surveys, and inspections to monitor asset condition and performance.
  • Support the development of maintenance strategies and the management of planned and reactive works.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, external consultants, and contractors to ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Contribute to sustainability initiatives, including energy efficiency improvements and carbon‑reduction planning.
About You
You will bring strong technical competence, excellent problem‑solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment. You should have:
  • A recognised relevant qualification
  • Proven experience in building services engineering or estates‑related environments.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and best practice in mechanical services and asset management.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
