Lead the future of sustainable building services design. A leading UK-based consultancy is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their growing team. Your new role
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you’ll lead mechanical design across multiple projects, acting as the primary liaison with external design teams. You’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality design packages, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring seamless coordination across disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead mechanical engineering design and coordination on multiple projects.
- Produce design packages including drawings, specifications, and technical schedules.
- Conduct thermal load calculations, dynamic modelling, and carbon emissions' analysis.
- Liaise with contractors, manufacturers, and utility providers.
- Ensure compliance with building regulations, British Standards, and CIBSE guidelines.
- Attend site visits and client meetings to ensure design intent is met.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to internal knowledge sharing.
What you'll need to succeed
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in mechanical/building services engineering.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or related field.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, IES, and ideally Revit/BIM tools.
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and sustainability in design.
- Familiarity with CDM regulations and environmental design principles.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
- Working towards chartership with CIBSE or IMechE.
