About the Role
A well‑established building services consultancy in Milton Keynes is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with a minimum of three years’ experience. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys delivering high‑quality mechanical design solutions and wants to grow within a supportive, forward‑thinking team.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed mechanical building services designs, including HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling, and public health systems.
- Produce technical drawings, specifications, and design reports using industry‑standard software (AutoCAD, Revit, IES, Hevacomp).
- Carry out system sizing, load calculations, and energy modelling.
- Attend design meetings and collaborate with clients, architects, contractors, and internal teams.
- Support projects from concept through to completion, ensuring compliance with UK regulations and CIBSE standards.
- Conduct site surveys, inspections, and progress reviews.
- Contribute to sustainable design strategies and low‑carbon solutions.
- Provide guidance to junior engineers when required.
Skills & Experience Required
- 3+ years’ experience in mechanical building services design.
- Strong understanding of UK building regulations and CIBSE guidelines.
- Proficiency in Revit MEP, AutoCAD, IES, or similar design tools.
- Strong communication and report‑writing skills.
- Ability to manage workload and work independently or collaboratively.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
- Working towards chartership (CEng) is a bonus.
