Your new company
We are recruiting on behalf of a leading privately owned Building Services Consultancy. They have a permanent vacancy for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer based within their Nottingham office.
Your new role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will provide technical support and work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team consisting of Building Services Designers, Revit Technicians, Building Physicists, and Document Controllers. You will be involved in a wide range of projects across various market sectors, delivering services from feasibility through to detailed and fully coordinated design for installation purposes (RIBA stages 0 to 5).
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A degree or HNC/D in a relevant subject or equivalent.
- Professional membership (desirable).
- Proficiency with relevant industry design software.
- Good time management and organizational skills with a flexible attitude.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience in delivering coordinated designs alongside colleagues from other disciplines.
- Up-to-date knowledge of current industry regulatory and design standards.
- Skills in supervising and mentoring junior engineering staff and apprentices.
- The ability to assist with setting design strategies.
- Experience in QA documents, design, and drawings prior to issue.
- Professional liaison skills with clients, professional teams, contractors, and staff at all levels.
- Experience in leading small mixed-discipline teams to deliver projects.
- The ability to attend client, design team, and project meetings.
- Skills in undertaking feasibility studies and surveys.
- Experience in preparing load calculations and applying for utility connections.
- Proficiency in producing detailed mechanical services designs.
- Experience in reviewing sub-contractor design drawings and technical submissions.
- Skills in undertaking site quality and legislative inspections and preparing associated reports.
- Knowledge of using industry design guides, British Standards, and Building Regulations.
