Your new company

Hays Recruitment are supporting an Ellesmere Port-based high school as they are looking to appoint an experienced and approachable teaching assistant to offer Maths and English interventions and boosters to pupils across all key stages. This is a long-term full-time contract that will last the remainder of the academic year.


Your new role

As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting pupils across both key stages on a 1:1 and small group basis. As an English and Maths specialist teaching assistant, you will offer intervention and booster sessions in these subjects on a 1:1 and small group basis, including intense sessions within a separate classroom to mixed/lower ability groups. You will build strong constructive relationships with your pupils by taking a pupil-centred approach to learning and associating learning material with their key interests which will promote their engagement. Towards the end of the academic year, you will offer GCSE preparation to year 11 pupils.


What you'll need to succeed

To be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as recent referenceable experience working with key stage 3 & key stage 4 aged (aged 11–16) pupils, as well as:

  • Experience delivering intervention and booster sessions
  • Having a Level 2 or equivalent Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification is advantageous but not essential
  • Be able to commit to a long-term full-time contract
