Your new company
Hays recruitment are working with a reputable public sector organisation that is on the lookout for a Management Accountant. This temporary role, lasting a minimum of 6 months, offers the exciting potential to become permanent for the right candidate. This role will be based in Preston, full-time onsite but provides flexible working arrangements to suit your lifestyle.

Your new role
In your new role, you will hold the responsibility of preparing and managing budgets and forecasts to support financial planning and decision-making. You will analyse budgets and perform variance analysis to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement. Managing accruals and prepayments to ensure accurate financial reporting will be part of your duties. You will prepare and maintain balance sheets, ensuring all entries are accurate and up-to-date. Compiling and analysing profit and loss statements to provide insights into financial performance will be essential. You will produce monthly management accounts, including detailed financial reports and analysis. Supporting the preparation of the statement of accounts within statutory deadlines, including the production of relevant financial statements and working papers, will be required. Ensuring compliance with all statutory and external audit requirements, providing necessary documentation and support, will be part of your role.

What you'll need to succeed
Proven experience in a similar role is essential. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy is crucial. Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel, is necessary. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are important. You will be part-qualified or hold a professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, etc).

You will receive a competitive salary based on your grade, ranging from Grade 7 - £37,938 - £41,511, Grade 8 - £42,708- £46,731, Grade 9 - £47,754- £50,788 depending on your experience.
