Highways Maintenance Technician - Highways - Tier 1 Contractor - Northampton - Civils

A leading Tier 1 highways maintenance contractor operating across the UK, delivering essential reactive and planned maintenance works for a local highway authority. Due to increased workload and network recovery requirements, the business is expanding its delivery support team.


Your new role

As a Highways Maintenance Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the planning, coordination and safe delivery of reactive and minor planned highways maintenance works across the local network.

  • Plan and schedule highway maintenance activities using a works management system across multiple delivery teams.

  • Coordinate reactive maintenance, carriageway and footway works, considering traffic management, hazards and resource availability

  • Review, check and verify work instructions prior to issuing to delivery teams.

  • Ensure all works comply with health and safety, quality and environmental requirements and the local highways authority specification.

  • Undertake site-based inspections and audits to verify compliance with company standards

  • Support the achievement of contractual KPIs, escalating risks or constraints where performance may be impacted

  • Work collaboratively with the Senior Delivery Technician, Delivery Manager, operational teams and supply chain partners.

  • Promote best practice, continuous improvement and effective communication across the delivery function


What you'll need to succeed

  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme)

  • Traffic Management qualification – 12D M7 (Lantra)

  • Experience in highways maintenance, network operations or works planning

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities

  • A collaborative approach with a focus on safety, quality and continuous improvement
