Maintenance Operative / Fabric technician with basic HVAC knowledge

Job Title: HVAC Maintenance Operative / Fabric Technician
Location: TN24 Ashford Kent – Retail Units
Pay: £25.04 per hour umbrella PAYE / £19.23 per hour PAYE
Hours: Monday to Friday. 40 hours per week, 8 – 5pm

Overview
We’re looking for a reliable, hands‑on Maintenance Operative / Fabric technician with basic HVAC knowledge and strong general building maintenance skills. You do not need to be a fully qualified engineer. If you can adjust wall controls, change filters and belts, and carry out basic fault-finding, that’s a bonus but not essential.

The ideal person is practical, proactive, and confident, completing day‑to‑day fabric and plumbing tasks across a commercial site.

Key Responsibilities
• Carry out basic HVAC tasks such as filter changes, belt replacements and simple control adjustments
• General fabric maintenance including painting, decorating and minor carpentry
• Basic plumbing repairs including clearing blockages and replacing standard domestic fittings
• External work such as replacing or relaying slabs
• Support wider maintenance team with ad‑hoc duties as required
• Participate in the on‑call rota and attend occasional callouts

Skills and Experience
• Strong general maintenance background in building fabric and plumbing
• Ability to work confidently and safely on basic fault-finding and minor repairs
• Positive, can‑do attitude with good customer service skills

Desirable but not essential
• HVAC experience is desirable but not essential
  • Mewp licence
  • Forklift licence
    • Full UK driving licence preferred
On‑Call and Overtime
• Weekly on‑call rota (1 in 2) • £100 per week standby payment
• Enhanced overtime rates if called out:
• Evenings and Saturdays at x1.5
• Sundays at x2.0
• Callouts are infrequent, typically less than once per month
