Maintenance Assistant, Cardiff, required asap, 10 weeks' ongoing work
Your new role
Maintenance Assistant
To assist the Halls Management staff in the efficient upkeep of University residential accommodation.
To undertake a range of practical duties and provide general assistance to help maintain the fabric of the buildings and their surroundings.
To be an active, flexible and dedicated member of the Residences team.
To be responsible for providing high levels of customer care and service delivery.
Maintenance Caretaking Functions
Testing of the fire alarms and emergency lights, logging of faults and repairs as appropriate.
To have due care and diligence in regard to the health and safety of yourself and others, to ensure that legislation is adhered to, including : Manual Handling/ COSH/ use of machinery and power tools.
To carry out non-specialist minor repairs and maintenance, including patch painting, replacing strip lights, minor tiling, resealing showers etc.
Janitorial/ Housekeeping Functions
To maintain accurate records of stores, including materials, linen and portable electrical appliances.
To ensure the signing off of records and disposal of goods are kept for all equipment.
To carry out an inventory of residence equipment.
To distribute stores to residences as necessary.
To remove and record bed linen, assist with making up beds where appropriate and necessary.
To inform Maintenance Team Leader/ Assistant of any orders required to maintain stock levels
Any other such reasonable duties which are required for the effective performance of activities within the Accommodation Services Department.
