Teaching Assistant Level 2

Location: Blackpool
Hours: 32.5 hours per week
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Term Time Only

Hays Education is proud to be working in partnership with a highly regarded, oversubscribed secondary academy in Blackpool to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA). Working within the Learning Support Department, you will play a key role in supporting students with a range of additional learning needs, helping them to access the curriculum and reach their individual goals.

The Role
As a Learning Support Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
  • Providing one-to-one and small group support for students with additional learning needs.
  • Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Supporting students with academic, social, emotional and behavioural needs.
  • Encouraging independence, confidence and positive learning behaviours.
  • Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
  • Helping to create a safe, nurturing and supportive learning environment.

What We're Looking For
The successful candidate will have:
Essential Qualifications
  • GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
  • A genuine passion for supporting children and young people in education.
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.
Desirable Qualifications
Additional qualifications relating to SEND, Child Development or Education.

Experience & Skills
  • Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational, care, youth work or support setting.
  • Experience supporting individuals with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team whilst using your own initiative.
  • A flexible and proactive approach to supporting learning.
