SEN Level 3 Teaching Assistant – Primary School in Chelmsley Wood, Birmingham.

Hays Education have partnered with a primary school in the Chelmsley Wood area of Birmingham. We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed SEN level 3-qualified and experienced Teaching Assistant to join our school for the upcoming academic year, starting September!

Please note, unfortunately, we cannot offer sponsorship or permits. You will need previous and recent UK school-based experience and qualifications to be successful for this role.

The Role:

  • You will be based in the Year 2 classroom and will assist the main class teacher with lessons and activities
  • Supporting children with mild to moderate SEN(D) in the main classroom
  • Occasional 1.1 support
  • Strong understanding of phonics, beneficial but not essential knowledge and experience of RWI phonics scheme
  • Supporting with phonics, numeracy, literacy and guided reading
  • Putting up displays
  • Safeguarding of children

What you need to succeed:

  • Level 3 Qualified and UK Experienced
  • A love for working with children and making a positive impact on their education
  • Flexible, adaptable, and confident in managing different classroom environments
  • Excellent understanding of the National Curriculum
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Great understanding of phonics, literacy, numeracy and schemes of work used
  • A proactive and positive approach to teaching children
  • Providing extra support to students with additional learning needs
  • Helping to maintain a positive and productive learning environment
  • Strong behaviour management skills
