SEN, FE, Learning Support Assistant - Complex needs - temp to perm
We are working on behalf of a college based in north Birmingham which provides specialist education and training for young people with special education needs and/or disabilities and complex needs.
The college provides study curriculums that enable young people to prepare for adulthood via different pathways. These include pathways to independent living skills, community, good health and work skills. The college also gives learners the opportunity to gain vocational, English and mathematics qualifications.
The college are looking for dedicated members of staff to join their team in supporting learners in the classroom. They are looking to take someone on a temporary basis with a view to offering them a permanent role with the college. The role will involve the following:

The college are looking for dedicated members of staff to join their team in supporting learners in the classroom. They are looking to take someone on a temporary basis with a view to offering them a permanent role with the college. The role will involve the following:
- Term time only 9 am to 4 pm with temporary to permanent opportunity
- Support learners learning in class group settings, and smaller group teaching sessions as appropriate
- Deliver individualised 1-1 teaching sessions.
- Differentiate lesson delivery according to student needs and ability.
- Support learners to achieve individual outcomes and targets.
- Update and contribute to learning plans and database records.
- Contribute to the assessment of learning.
- Facilitate person centred plans and provide access to relevant learner services.
- Contribute to the Education, Health and Care Planning process.
- Identify and contribute to the development of resources that aid learning.
- Actively engage with the delivery of enrichment and community activities
The person concerned must ideally have the following to be considered for the position:
- Experience of supporting learning with SEN students and ideally evidence of learning outcomes
- Experience of CPI or similar de-escalation strategies and training
- Experience and understanding of working with young people with complex needs
