Senior Legal Counsel, Technology and Procurement

A Global FTSE 250 organisation is looking to hire a Senior Legal Counsel on a 6-month contract due to growth/ change within the technology space within the business. This will be a group role, whereby you will have a lot of autonomy and will be expected to hit the ground running. The team is small, but excellent, and they are looking for someone experienced to join them in this position. You will also get the opportunity to get involved in other projects, including AI and Data Privacy. You will have good exposure to and work closely with not just Group Legal, but also the Chief Technology Officer and the Data Protection Officer.

The role will be focussed on technology and procurement and be a generalist commercial legal role. You will be heavily involved in various work within the technology space, including SaaS, licensing and reseller agreements, as well as requests for proposals and tenders. Some key responsibilities are highlighted below:

  • Leading the negotiation and drafting of a wide range of technology contracts, including SaaS, software licensing, cloud services, NDAs, reseller and subcontractor agreements.
  • Supporting the management of supplier relationships through work orders, change requests, and contract lifecycle management.
  • Supporting in the drafting and maintaining internal legal documentation, including policies, procedures, playbooks, and standard templates.
  • Supporting and monitoring legal and regulatory developments in the technology sector and advising the business on potential impacts (“horizon scanning”).
  • Working on and supporting a wide range of ad hoc legal matters.

This is a really exciting time to be a part of a very well-established organisation, whilst it is evolving and changing, resulting in some really interesting work. Ideally, you will have at least 4+ years' PQE, however this is a guideline only. You will have extensive experience in dealing with technology and procurement contracts, as well as be very autonomous and want to be a part of a very friendly and high-performing department.
