IT Technician

A multi-academy trust in Yorkshire has approached Hays with an exciting opportunity for an IT technician to provide support to a high school based in Sheffied.
This is a permanent, full‑time role offering variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to work across multiple educational settings. This role will be based onsite 5 days a week.

Your new role

As an IT Technician, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of ICT systems across multiple school sites. Reporting to the IT Network Manager and working within a supportive team, you will:
  • Maintain and support the ICT network, hardware and software.
  • Assist staff and students with day‑to‑day technical issues, ensuring efficient and customer‑focused service.
  • Contribute to ICT development projects, helping to optimise system performance and introduce new technologies.
  • Manage and update inventories, helpdesk tickets, and documentation.
  • Install, configure and maintain ICT equipment, following best practice and regulatory standards.
  • Support training, integration of systems and ongoing digital development across the organisation.

What you'll need to succeed

To excel in this role, you will need:
  • Experience supporting IT networks in a busy, multi‑user environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows 11, Microsoft 365 and a range of hardware devices (PCs, laptops, tablets).
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals such as DNS, DHCP, Active Directory and Group Policy.
  • Experience using a helpdesk system and providing high‑quality technical support.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A proactive, customer‑focused approach with the ability to problem‑solve and learn new skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and supporting young people.
