Due to expansion, an education provider in Blackpool is seeking an IT Technician to join their team.

Your new company

A leading further and higher education provider in the North West of England, this college is recognised for its commitment to academic excellence, industry collaboration, and student success. With a strong reputation for delivering high-quality vocational and academic programmes, the institution serves a diverse student population across multiple campuses. It maintains close partnerships with employers and universities to ensure its curriculum is responsive to local and national workforce needs and the college is also known for its supportive learning environment, innovative teaching practices, and dedication to continuous improvement. Due to further growth and expansion plans, the IT team is looking to recruit two new vacancies, one of which is a first and second line IT Technician.

Your new role

Reporting to the IT Service Desk Supervisor, you will join a team of 10 and will therefore be fully supported upon joining the team with the opportunity to further develop your skills and experience. As 1st and 2nd line IT Technician, you will be responsible for providing IT support to end users, therefore responding to a range of helpdesk queries which could relate to hardware, software, or bespoke technologies. You will provide this support both face to face and remotely, and this role will be based on site 5 days a week due to the nature of this industry. The role will involve liaising with end users on a daily basis, ensuring you are providing a high level of support and communicating effectively with updates regarding any outstanding IT support requests. Due to both recent growth and further growth planned, this is a role where you will have the opportunity to upskill and also apply for promotions in the future as the team and organisation continues to grow.

What you'll need to succeed

In order to be successful in securing this position, you must possess specific IT support experience in either first line or second line and will have experience of providing this support face to face. You will have strong communication skills, with a strong emphasis on providing a high level of customer service and an understanding of the importance of IT in the education sector. In addition, experience working in education would be advantageous.

What you'll get in return

In return, you will be paid a competitive salary of between £25,000 and £29,000 which is dependent on experience in providing first or second line IT support and you will also receive an attractive benefits package. This includes 30 days holiday (plus bank), a local government pension scheme, access to healthcare and wellbeing benefits, free car parking and also subsidised food and drink when on site.
