Income Officer (Social Housing) - Liverpool - Up to £22ph

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit an experienced Income Officer in Liverpool on behalf of our client, who are a well-established housing association with substantial housing stock across Merseyside. This is an ongoing, temporary position with permanent potential for the right candidate and hourly rates up to £22ph & hybrid working.

Your new role

  • Managing a caseload of customer accounts and maximising income collection

  • Respond to general enquiries, requests for support or guidance/advice from customers in relation to benefits, money management & debt

  • Ensuring appropriate legal action is taken to recover any debt, including representing the organisation at court proceedings and evictions where required

  • Assisting with tenancy sign-ups where required, ensuring customers understand the rent payment arrangements

  • Assisting with housing benefit/UC claims where required, carrying out basic benefit calculations, signposting or referring to internal or external agencies to provide appropriate support/advice in relation to welfare, preventing eviction proceedings and sustaining their tenancy

  • Ensuring all case activity & customer contact is accurately recorded on internal IT systems

  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal colleagues & external agencies

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience of income management and enforcement/debt collection within the housing sector

  • Knowledge and understanding of legal frameworks in relation to tenancy arrears recovery, as well as welfare reform & welfare benefits

  • Effective case management skills with good problem-solving abilities & the ability to work on own initiative
