Income Officer (Social Housing) – Liverpool

We're looking to recruit an experienced Income Officer on behalf of our social housing client in Liverpool. This is a minimum 6+ month contract with the possibility of extension, working on a hybrid basis with 2 set office days per week in Liverpool. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong income management or rent arrears experience within social housing, as you'll play a key role in maximising rent income, supporting tenants to sustain their tenancies and take fair and consistent action to manage arrears.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of tenant accounts, applying arrears policies to maximise income and meet performance targets

  • Proactively monitor accounts, identify customers at risk of tenancy failure and take early intervention to bring accounts up to date.

  • Engage with tenants via phone, email and home visits to discuss accounts and agree affordable repayment plans

  • Prepare and serve legal notices, representing the organisation in court relating to arrears where required

  • Support with Housing Benefit and UC claims, completing basic calculations where required

  • Provide welfare, budgeting and income maximisation advice, making referrals or signposting to external services where required

What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience in income management or rent arrears recovery

  • Strong working knowledge of welfare benefits, including Universal Credit and Housing Benefit processes

  • Knowledge of legal processes relating to tenancy management, arrears and eviction processes

  • Can proactively manage a busy caseload, maintain accurate records and can analyse account information.

  • Ability to attend a minimum of 2 days per week in Warrington and can flexibly commute around surrounding areas (driving licence advantageous)
