Your new company

You’ll be joining the Northern Ireland Courts and Tribunals Service (NICTS) within the Department of Justice. This role sits in the Financial Strategy and Planning Branch of the Finance Directorate, supporting delivery of key financial management, planning and reporting functions across the organisation. The team operates a hybrid working model from Laganside House, Belfast.


Your new role

As the SO Accountant (Income), you will support the management of the NICTS Income budget and contribute to cost‑recovery reporting. You will also play a key role in project support, including the Civil Fee Review and the statutory transfer of The Appeals Service (TAS).


Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and reporting on the NICTS Income budget
  • Preparing monthly reconciliations, accruals, variance analysis and management reports
  • Preparing forecasting, profiling and Monitoring Round returns
  • Providing financial information for Senior Management, Finance Committee, the Income Working Group, budget holders and stakeholders
  • Liaising with Court Office and TAS staff, as well as project teams
  • Maintaining internal financial controls
  • Supporting year‑end accounting procedures and audit preparation
  • Reviewing governance arrangements and business cases
  • Ensuring compliance with NICS and NICTS policies

What you'll need to succeed

  • Fully qualified accountant
  • Experience in budgeting and financial management
  • Strong Excel proficiency
  • Experience with Account NI is desirable
