Your new company
Hays is a leading education recruiter in the Wirral area. We are looking to recruit someone for the role of a Playworker, looking to start in September. We specialise in supporting children day-to-day, placing you in environments where your skills and care make a real impact. With expert guidance and flexible opportunities, Hays helps you grow while shaping young lives.

Your New Role
As a Playworker, you’ll support children of a variety of ages in creating a safe, positive, and engaging environment where they can learn, play, and develop social skills. You will help plan and supervise activities, encourage participation, and support children's individual needs throughout the day. You'll build positive relationships with children, promoting their confidence, independence, and wellbeing while ensuring they feel included and supported. You may also help manage challenging behaviour by using positive behaviour strategies and creating a fun and nurturing atmosphere.

What You'll Need to Succeed
To become a Playworker, you will ideally hold a relevant childcare qualification or have transferable experience working with children in settings such as schools, nurseries, youth groups, clubs, care settings, sports coaching, or community programmes.

To thrive in this role
You'll need a proactive, enthusiastic, and supportive attitude. You should be confident engaging with children of different ages and abilities, organising activities, and encouraging positive interactions. Strong communication skills, patience, reliability, and the ability to adapt to different situations are essential. A genuine passion for supporting children's development and wellbeing will help you make a positive impact every day.

What You'll Get in Return
You'll receive competitive pay and valuable experience in a supportive and rewarding environment. Plus, you'll be added to the Hays recruitment database, giving you access to future opportunities across education, childcare, and related sectors — helping to keep your career moving forward.
You'll also enjoy a range of employee benefits, including:
  • £250 reward every time you recommend a colleague
  • Access to free Professional Development Training
  • Option to be paid via PAYE
  • Holiday Pay
  • Option to pay into a pension scheme
