Hays Accountancy & Finance are supporting a UK‑wide manufacturing group known for its strong operational performance, long‑term stability and commitment to developing its people in their search for an AAT Qualified or Part-Qualified Assistant Accountant to join the finance team in Kings Lynn.

Your new role

Working closely with the Financial Accountant and wider finance team, this is a varied and hands‑on role offering exposure across financial accounting, payroll, government reporting and core month‑end processes. It’s ideal for a part‑qualified accountant who enjoys variety, ownership and learning through real responsibility.

Month‑End Responsibilities

• Calculate and post prepayments as well as accruals
• Prepare and post journals
• Complete balance sheet reconciliations
• Raise ad hoc sales invoices
• Government Reporting (Monthly & Quarterly)
• VAT and Intrastat submissions
• Customs and duty VAT reclaims
• Supplier payment submissions

As well as month-end duties, you will also assist in collating payroll data for the 3rd party payroll provider, which will involve preparing the monthly payroll data as well as weekly payroll, which will be processed externally. Therefore, this is not your main duty, but as the Assistant Accountant you will use this data to check payroll / labour costs as well as highlight any areas of concern.

What you'll need to succeed

We’re looking for a motivated, detail‑driven and ambitious individual who will be part‑qualified (AAT, ACA, ACCA or CIMA), with experience in a similar finance role covering month-end close along with strong Excel capabilities, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP and SUMIF. You’ll be naturally detail‑focused, highly numerate and comfortable managing deadlines, while communicating clearly with people across the business. What you'll get in return
