Accounts Technician Belfast

1. Your New Company

The organisation has a strong operational footprint and is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper/Accounts Technician to support its finance function as the company continues to expand. You’ll be part of a friendly, professional team where accuracy, communication and proactive working are highly valued.

2. Your New Role

As the new Bookkeeper/Accounts Technician, you will take ownership of day‑to‑day financial administration and play a key role in ensuring smooth accounting operations. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Managing the finance inbox and incoming post, ensuring queries are addressed promptly and professionally
  • Completing weekly invoicing for key accounts and producing the associated reporting packs
  • Handling a portfolio of additional customers, including invoicing, debt management, payment allocation, reconciliation, and issuing updated account statements
  • Preparing month‑end invoicing and generating required month‑end reports
  • Processing all sales and purchase transactions through Xero
  • Regularly reconciling bank accounts to maintain accurate debtor and creditor listings
  • Producing weekly customer statements, supplier reports and cash flow updates
  • Processing payments, remittances and pro‑forma invoices in a timely manner
  • Maintaining and circulating the weekly cashflow forecast
  • Preparing quarterly VAT returns
  • Collating weekly and monthly timesheets, overtime and leave data to support payroll and agency worker payments
  • Generating management reports and KPI information and contributing analysis for internal review and discussion

3. What You’ll Need to Succeed

To be successful in this role, you should have:
  • Strong bookkeeping or accounts technician experience
  • Confidence working with accounting software (experience with Xero is highly desirable)
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple finance tasks simultaneously
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with both customers and suppliers
  • High attention to detail and accuracy across all financial processes
  • A proactive approach to problem‑solving and managing deadlines
  • Experience preparing VAT returns and assisting with cashflow reporting would be a distinct advantage
