Job Title:Secondary History and Humanities Teacher
Location: Bude, Cornwall
Contract Type:Full-time
Start Date: September 2025

About the Role:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable History and Humanities Teacher to join our secondary school team. The successful candidate will teach History across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to contribute to other humanities subjects such as Geography, Religious Studies, or Citizenship, depending on expertise. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate educator to inspire students, foster critical thinking, and contribute to a vibrant and supportive department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver engaging and well-structured lessons in History and other humanities subjects as required.
  • Teach across Key Stages 3 and 4 (and KS5 if applicable), ensuring lessons are inclusive and accessible to all learners.
  • Develop students’ historical knowledge, analytical skills, and understanding of global and cultural perspectives.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on student progress, using data to inform teaching and provide targeted support.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, enrichment activities, and cross-curricular projects.
  • Participate in departmental and whole-school initiatives, CPD, and school events.
  • Maintain high standards of behaviour and classroom management.
Person Specification:
Essentials:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A degree in History or a related humanities subject.
  • Experience teaching History at secondary level.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for the humanities.
  • Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
Desirable:
  • Experience teaching other humanities subjects (e.g., Geography, RS, Citizenship).
  • Familiarity with current educational research and curriculum developments in the humanities.
  • Ability to lead or support extracurricular activities such as history clubs, trips, or debates.
