Hays is working with an Education Trust who are seeking a proactive and hardworking HR Advisor on a 6-month fixed-term contract to provide HR guidance and support. Our client has numerous primary and secondary schools based throughout the region, although the successful candidate will primarily be based at their Head Office on the outskirts of Norwich.
The successful candidate will work closely with Head Teachers and Senior Leaders within the business, supporting and providing guidance on employee relation cases. This is a great opportunity to work with a small but friendly and supportive team who believe in supporting one another and providing excellent HR services to the wider business.
Your new role
- You’ll manage a varied and busy caseload, including:
- Disciplinary, grievance, capability, and performance management cases
- Long-term sickness absence and attendance management
- Restructuring and organisational change support
- Flexible working requests and employment policy interpretation
- Providing clear, practical, and confident HR advice to head teachers and managers
- Working with data to support decisions and improve attendance and outcomes
- Contributing to continuous improvement, including new system implementation
What you'll need to succeed
- Is CIPD Level 5 qualified, working towards it, or has equivalent experience
- Has at least two years’ experience in an HR Advisor or ER‑focused role
- Is confident managing complex ER cases independently
- Communicates with clarity, empathy, and influence
- Can challenge Head Teachers constructively while treating everyone with dignity and respect.
- Remains calm, professional, and solution‑focused under pressure.
- Builds trust quickly across a wide range of stakeholders
