Permanent HR Advisor role based Edinburgh City Centre

Your new company

Hays are delighted to be partnering with a highly reputable law firm, based in Edinburgh City Centre, who are looking to appoint an HR Advisor to their team on a permanent basis.


Your new role

In this role you will support the HR Director and wider department to ensure that the Firm complies with all legal requirements and the smooth delivery of HR services and support to the business. Duties will include:

  • Assist in the development and implementation of HR policies.

  • Involvement with staff relations, including assisting managers with performance management issues and handling disciplinary and grievance issues.

  • Recruitment – collating job descriptions, liaising with agencies if required, creating job adverts and keeping recruitment webpage up to date, interviewing for support positions, involvement with contracts of employment.

  • Absence – assisting with monitoring and reviewing absence across the firm and, where required, meeting with employees.

  • Trainees – involvement in trainee recruitment, induction process and quarterly reporting to the Training Manager.

  • Involvement in annual salary reviews and mandatory reporting, including the Gender Pay Gap.

  • To ensure HR projects are delivered on time and in line with firm policy.

  • Other ad hoc duties to support the team and the firm.

  • Effective use of the firm’s IT systems to maximise efficiency.


What you'll need to succeed

You will need to be an experienced HR generalist, ideally with a background working within a professional services environment. You will need to have excellent IT skills in MS Office, Outlook and Excel and the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner. Good planning, time management and organisational skills with excellent attention to detail and familiarity with analysis are also essential.


What you'll get in return

  • Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, 35 hours per week (Hybrid working)

  • Salary band: £28k to £32k, depending on experience

  • Base office: Edinburgh, with occasional travel to other Scottish offices
