HR MANAGER JOB IN NORTH LEICESTER/SOUTH NOTTINGHAM

Your new company

A long-established business in the hospitality sector is looking for a HR Manager to cover maternity for up to 15 months, managing a small HR team.

Your new role

  • Lead and oversee the full recruitment process
  • Partner with managers to deliver professional, timely, and practical advice on all employment law and HR matters.
  • Lead, support, and develop a team of four HR professionals.
  • Guide and support the team with employee relations matters including performance, conduct, capability, and absence.
  • Oversee investigations, disciplinary proceedings, and grievance processes, ensuring consistency, fairness, and compliance.
  • Develop, update, and embed effective HR policies and procedures that promote wellbeing and support high performance.
  • Manage and review employment contracts and training agreements.
  • Oversee absence management procedures, ensuring consistent application and timely intervention, including liaison with Occupational Health.
  • Analyse employee turnover data and implement initiatives to drive improved retention.
  • Maximise the use of the HR & Payroll system to streamline processes, resolve issues, and enhance reporting capabilities.
  • Produce monthly HR reports and insights using system data.
  • Support training, talent development, and the creation of clear career pathways across the business.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Have solid experience managing the full employee lifecycle, ideally in a medium‑sized, fast-paced organisation.
  • Bring experience of leading a small team.
  • Be organised, proactive, and solutions‑focused, with a positive “can‑do” approach.
  • Have strong, up‑to‑date employment law knowledge and the confidence to provide clear advice on complex issues.
  • Be experienced in creating and implementing HR policies and comfortable using people data to inform decision‑making.
