HR Business Partner - L&D/Training Manager – West Yorkshire (£60 - 70,000 per annum)

Experienced HR Business Partner (L&D/Training experience) role in a fast‑paced operational environment that needs someone who can lead today’s training delivery while shaping tomorrow’s capability. The Role
In this role, you will lead the operational training function, ensuring the workforce has the skills, compliance, and confidence to perform safely and effectively. You’ll work closely with business critical operational leaders across the business to understand demand, forecast training needs, and ensure courses, trainers, and resources are aligned to operational priorities.
You will also manage a dedicated training team, providing leadership, coaching, and direction to ensure high‑quality delivery. Alongside the HR Director, you will play a key role in developing and implementing a strategic training plan that supports long‑term organisational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Training Leadership — Lead and manage the delivery of operational training across a busy, multi‑site environment.
- Training Team Management — Line‑manage and develop a team of trainers, ensuring consistent, high‑quality delivery.
- Training Forecasting — Work with business leaders to understand demand, plan training pipelines, and ensure the right trainers and courses are in place.
- Strategic Training Planning — Partner with the HR Director to shape and deliver a long‑term training strategy.
- Learning Innovation — Identify opportunities to modernise learning, shifting from face‑to‑face delivery to virtual and e‑learning solutions.
- External Partner Management — Build and maintain relationships with external training providers to ensure quality and value.
- Safety‑Critical Training Oversight — Support training in environments such as construction, facilities management, engineering, or other blue‑collar/front‑line settings.
About You
You will be an experienced training professional with a strong operational background and the confidence to lead both people and strategy. You’ll bring:
- Experience managing operational training in a front‑line, blue‑collar, or safety‑critical environment.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a team.
- A track record of improving learning initiatives, including digital transformation of training.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to forecast training needs and resources.
- Experience working with external training partners and digital training providers (advantageous).
- The ability to influence senior stakeholders and contribute to strategic planning.
