HR Business Partner 12 month FTC, based in Glasgow

Your new company

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR Business Partner to join a highly reputable, Glasgow-based organisation on a 12‑month maternity cover contract. This role offers the chance to work closely with senior leaders, drive meaningful organisational change, and influence a high‑performance culture across a diverse stakeholder group.

Your new role

You will act as a trusted partner to the business, delivering the People Strategy and providing expert guidance across talent, succession, organisational change and employee relations. This is a highly collaborative role requiring strong commercial acumen, excellent stakeholder management, and the confidence to coach, challenge and influence at senior levels.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner with senior leaders to deliver the HR Strategy and People Plan, supporting talent development, succession planning and cultural improvement.
  • Build strong, credible relationships with senior stakeholders, providing coaching, challenge and strategic HR insight.
  • Lead on operational HR activities, including organisational change, senior appointments, reward processes, and early‑career programmes.
  • Deliver integrated, cost‑effective people solutions aligned to business objectives.
  • Champion strong people management capabilities across the organisation and reinforce the HR delivery model.
  • Work collaboratively with HR Centres of Expertise, Shared Services and wider HR teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Engage effectively with Trade Union representatives to support business priorities.
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners across the wider organisation on cross‑functional and cross‑geographical initiatives.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Strong commercial mindset with the ability to understand and respond to business needs.
  • Proven HR Business Partnering experience within a complex organisation.
  • Demonstrable success in building trusted relationships with senior leaders.
  • Experience influencing, coaching and challenging stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder‑management skills.
  • Track record of delivering best‑practice HR solutions that drive performance.
  • Experience supporting talent development, succession planning and organisational change (e.g., TUPE, restructures, redundancy programmes).
  • Excellent technical HR knowledge – CIPD qualified or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working within a unionised environment.
