Strategic HR Business Partner opportunity with a global business based in Belfast!

Your new company

A well established, large scale engineering and manufacturing organisation with a major operation in Northern Ireland and a broad international customer base. The business operates in a highly regulated sector and is recognised for its technical expertise, investment in innovation and commitment to sustainable, future-focused manufacturing. With a diverse workforce and long-term growth plans, it offers a stable environment where HR is seen as a genuine strategic partner. You will be part of a dedicated HR team that has strong credibility at senior level. The organisation is actively investing in its people agenda, with clear focus on culture, engagement, leadership capability and long term workforce planning.

Your new role

As Human Resources Business Partner, you will provide strategic and operational HR support to leaders across a mix of operational, technical and professional functions within a complex, union-represented environment.

Your role will be to:

  • Build strong, trusted relationships with senior managers, acting as their first point of contact for all strategic and day to day people matters

  • Lead and support key HR projects that drive engagement, shape culture and develop talent across the organisation

  • Review, update and implement HR policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and alignment with organisational objectives

  • Manage and advise on a wide range of employee relations issues, including performance, absence, grievance and disciplinary matters

  • Work collaboratively with trade union and employee representatives to maintain positive, constructive working relationships

  • Coach managers to improve their confidence and capability in handling people issues and leading their teams effectively

  • Analyse HR data and metrics, particularly around absence and attendance, to identify trends and design targeted improvement plans

  • Support workforce planning, including headcount planning, recruitment, onboarding and the movement of talent across different sites and functions

  • Ensure HR systems are kept accurate and up to date, while contributing ideas for ongoing process and system improvements

This is a visible, influential position where you will have the scope to shape how HR partners the business and to see the direct impact of your work on both leaders and employees.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • CIPD qualification with at least 3 years’ generalist HR experience, or a minimum of 4 years’ broad HR generalist experience without CIPD

  • Strong working knowledge of Northern Ireland employment legislation and its practical application

  • Proven experience in managing a wide range of employee relations issues, ideally including complex or sensitive cases

  • Confidence in working with and influencing senior stakeholders, with well‑developed communication and presentation skills

  • Experience of working in a fast‑paced, complex environment; exposure to manufacturing and/or a unionised setting would be a strong advantage

  • Good working knowledge of HR systems and technology, with strong IT skills across Excel, PowerPoint and Word

  • A proactive, solutions‑focused approach, with the ability to balance operational demands with longer‑term strategic priorities

    Desirable:

  • Experience of partnering with trade unions or employee representative groups

  • A relevant qualification in HR or Business

  • Experience of using a large, integrated HRIS (for example an enterprise‑scale system)

What you'll get in return

In return, you will join a stable, growing employer that genuinely values its people and invests heavily in their wellbeing and development. The package includes:

  • Typical salary of £51,300 to £54,000 plus annual bonus

  • Flexible working options within core business requirements

  • A 36‑hour working week with an early finish on Fridays

  • Generous holiday entitlement

  • Defined Contribution Pension Scheme

  • Comprehensive life insurance and occupational sick pay

  • Extensive health and wellbeing benefits, including private family medical cover, access to on‑site occupational health support and a high‑quality Employee Assistance Programme

  • Strong focus on professional development, including coaching, mentoring and support for ongoing learning

  • Clear opportunities for progression within a large, structured HR function

  • Enhanced maternity pay

  • Participation in a Short Term Incentive Plan linked to personal and business performance

This is an excellent opportunity for an established HR Business Partner, or a strong Senior HR Advisor ready to step up, to join a high‑profile organisation and play a key role in shaping the people agenda.
