Temporary Role - Shift Cover

Your new company

This organisation is a dynamic and community-focused charity, delivering life-changing services to over 10,000 children, young people, and families across Somerset and Devon each year. With a strong commitment to inclusion, empowerment, and support, the charity works in partnership with local authorities to provide high-quality housing and support services. Their mission is to create communities where young people can belong, contribute, and thrive.

Your new role

Temp/Adhoc shifts

As a Young Persons’ Housing Support Worker based in Minehead, you will support young people aged 16–24 living in supported accommodation. You will build professional, positive, and trusting relationships, helping them to manage their homes effectively and develop the skills needed for independent living.

You will work collaboratively with each young person, modelling and encouraging positive behaviours, and supporting them to achieve their personal goals. The role includes lone working, so confidence and resilience are essential, along with the ability to manage complex and challenging behaviours appropriately.

What you'll need to succeed

  • A genuine belief in the potential of young people and a commitment to their development
  • Experience working with young people or in a similar support role (desirable but not essential)
  • Confidence and competence when working alone
  • The ability to build positive, professional relationships
  • A proactive, strengths-based approach to support and progression
  • Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check and provide two suitable references
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

What you'll get in return

  • The opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people
  • A supportive and inclusive working environment
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities
  • The chance to be part of a passionate and growing team
  • Constructive feedback on your application upon request
