NEW - Governance and Risk Manager (Governance Lead)
Your new company
You will be working for a not-for-profit organisation within the social housing and public properties sector. They provide specialist technical and procurement products and services to help contracting authorities and building contractors deliver publicly funded building projects on time and within budget. Their goal is to enhance local communities by delivering better buildings and homes. They engage with clients and appointed companies through regional business units, supported by a group procurement team that develops and markets their range of products and services. The role in question is part of the group's central services team, which includes finance, IT & digital, people and culture, and marketing.
Your new role
The Group Governance and Risk Manager will lead the governance function to ensure excellent governance arrangements, create a culture of good governance and risk management, and support adherence to statutory and regulatory requirements. You will review and advise on compliance, manage the Business Assurance Framework and risk register, and act as the Data Protection Officer. Responsibilities include maintaining the governance framework, supporting the Board, managing risk, and overseeing policies and procedures. You will also ensure GDPR compliance and support the organisation with data protection processes and guidance.
What you'll need to succeed
- You must have experience facilitating good governance in values-driven environments.
- You will have a strong and proven understanding of governance models, best practices, and legal requirements.
- You must have working experience in a Secretariat or Governance team within regulated environments and the ability to provide high-quality governance support to boards/committees.
- Relevant degree or governance qualification.
- Strong academic background.
- High IT literacy, proficient with MS Office suite.
- Critical thinker, able to handle ambiguity and find solutions.
- Strong organisational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
- Collaborative, flexible, and able to work under pressure.
- Positive, supportive, open, honest, approachable, and professional.
