Interim Group Accountant - Competitive day rate - 6-9 months

Currently supporting my service sector client based in Herefordshire, with the recruitment of an Interim Group Financial Accountant who will play a key role in managing and reporting on the financial performance of a group of companies or business units within a larger corporate structure. Here's a breakdown of what they typically do for the next 6–9 months.

Core Responsibilities

Group Consolidation
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements for the entire group, combining results from multiple subsidiaries or entities.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., IFRS or UK GAAP).

Financial Reporting
  • Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support statutory reporting and liaise with auditors during year-end processes.

Intercompany Accounting
  • Manage transactions between group entities, ensuring they are correctly recorded and reconciled.

Technical Accounting Support
  • Provide guidance on complex accounting issues such as acquisitions, disposals, leases, and impairments.
  • Interpret and apply changes in accounting standards.

Budgeting and Forecasting Support
  • Collaborate with FP&A teams to ensure consistency between actuals and forecasts.
  • Provide insights into variances and trends.

Compliance and Controls
  • Ensure financial controls are in place and adhered to across the group.
  • Support internal audits and risk management initiatives.

Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Work closely with finance teams across subsidiaries, senior management, and external advisors.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge.
  • Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Hyperion).
  • Qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
