Hays Accountancy & Finance are working with an innovative and high-profile cultural organisation based in Belfast that is seeking a dynamic and commercially astute Head of Finance & Business Management. This is a rare opportunity to join the senior leadership team of a creative institution that plays a vital role in the region’s cultural and community life.

Your new role
As a key member of the Senior Management Team, you will lead the organisation’s financial strategy, business operations, and fundraising functions. You’ll be responsible for ensuring financial sustainability, compliance, and operational excellence, while also contributing to strategic planning and commercial development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead financial modelling, forecasting, and scenario planning
  • Produce and analyse monthly management accounts and annual audited accounts
  • Oversee budgeting, cash flow, and financial reporting to the Board
  • Ensure compliance with tax, audit, and charity regulations
  • Manage procurement, payroll, and internal controls
  • Contribute to strategic planning and business development
  • Lead on funding applications and financial oversight of fundraising activity
  • Support commercial initiatives including venue hire and contract review
  • Oversee facilities management and capital project financials
  • Line manage finance, fundraising, and facilities teams


What you'll need to succeed
  • Fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior finance role
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, cash flow, and financial modelling
  • Strong leadership and team management experience
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Advanced Excel and experience with accounting systems (e.g., Sage)
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach
Desirable:
  • Experience in the arts, charity, or cultural sectors
  • Knowledge of charity SORP and FRS102
  • Fundraising or capital project experience
  • Experience working with trade unions or public funders
