Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Full-Time HLTA – Primary School, Southport
Start Date: September | Long-Term Placement


Hays Education is working with a primary school in Southport. We are currently recruiting a confident and skilled Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team from September on a full-time basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HLTA to bring their creativity, leadership, and passion for education to a vibrant school community.
Please note: We are unable to offer sponsorship or visa permits. You must have recent UK school-based experience and the relevant qualifications for this role.

The Role Includes:

• Leading and planning lessons in the absence of the teacher
• Providing classroom support across EYFS, KS1 & KS2
• Running focused 1:1 and small group interventions
• Supporting SEN(D) children when required
• Supporting with phonics, literacy, numeracy, and guided reading
• Collaborating with teaching staff to support learning outcomes
• Contributing to behaviour management and pupil well-being

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

• HLTA status or equivalent Level 4/5 qualification
• Demonstrated experience in primary settings (UK-based)
• Strong understanding of the National Curriculum
• Excellent behaviour management and adaptability
• A proactive, positive mindset and a passion for working with children
• Confident delivering lessons independently when required
• Experience across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 is preferred
• Willingness to support pupils with additional needs and personal care if needed

Safeguarding: As part of our onboarding process, two satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check are required.
