Primary School Teachers needed for supply across, flexible working, competitive pay

Your new school

Hays Education are looking for supply teachers to work in the Birmingham area. For years, we have been developing exclusive connections with a wide range of local primary schools, providing high-quality supply solutions. Our deep-rooted partnerships give teachers access to opportunities that are not available elsewhere, ensuring rewarding experiences for teachers and schools alike.

Your new role

Supply teachers are essential in keeping schools running smoothly when permanent staff are unavailable. By stepping into a variety of classroom settings—whether for subject-specific instruction or general cover—they help ensure students continue receiving meaningful, high-quality learning. These short-term roles often open the door to long-term or even permanent teaching opportunities, making supply work a valuable step in any education career.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver dynamic and inspiring lessons across various year groups and subjects, helping learners stay engaged and on track
  • Foster a calm and supportive learning environment using clear and consistent behaviour management techniques
  • Monitor student progress and relay constructive feedback to full-time teaching staff to enhance each pupil’s growth
  • Move confidently between different school communities, tailoring your teaching style to suit diverse learners.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Strengths in English, Maths and phonics

  • Prior experience teaching within a primary school setting

What you'll get in return

  • Competitive pay rates that reflect your skills and experience
  • Continual professional growth with access to an extensive CPD library of education-specific courses and webinars
  • All-in-one digital access via the Hays App—track timesheets, request holidays, complete training, and engage in well-being resources
  • Personalised career guidance from a dedicated education consultant, including tailored CV advice and support
  • Flexible job options to suit your lifestyle—whether you prefer short-term, long-term, or permanent roles
  • Referral rewards – earn £250 in vouchers when you refer a friend who completes 20 working days with Hays
