What you'll need to succeed
Essential Criteria:
Applicants must, by the closing date for applications have:
1. 5 GCSEs at grade A*- C including English Language and Maths. Applications will be considered from applicants with formal qualifications of an equivalent or higher standard to those stated.
And
2. At least two years’ experience in each of the areas detailed at (a) – (C) below;
Working and communicating effectively, both individually and as part of a team; and
Providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers including, providing information and assistance as required; and
Effectively using IT packages e.g. Microsoft office, Outlook and Word or other bespoke IT systems etc.
Or
3. At least four years’ experience in each of the areas detailed at (a) – (c) listed above.

Suitable candidates must be available and willing to work at Parliament Buildings on each working day. The standard working week is 37 hours/ 5 days (excluding meal breaks) across Monday to Saturday. The hours of work scheduled Monday to Friday will be 07.30 –15.30. Saturday working will be 8 hours and scheduled between the hours of 08.00 – 22.30. The Assembly Commission will provide at least 10 working days’ notice of the work pattern for each week. As far as reasonably possible, 3 working days’ notice of required overtime will be given.
Working hours will be dictated by the mode of operation of the Northern Ireland Assembly (the Assembly), candidates may be required to work additional hours and on public holidays. Suitable candidates will also be required to work such additional hours as reasonable and necessary by Assembly management for the efficient performance of duties. Please note, When the Assembly is sitting you will be required to work a greater number of hours during these periods.
The taking of annual leave may be influenced by the Parliamentary timetable.
Training
Successful candidates will be required to complete both Fire safety and Fire evacuation training courses, which will include using the designated fire elevator and evacuation chairs, following commencement of assignment.
Uniform:
Uniforms, including appropriate protective clothing and stab resistant vest (weighted 5kg), will be supplied, successful candidates will be required to wear the stab resistant vest whilst performing certain duties.
