Mechanical Maintenance Engineer required for a university based within Greater Manchester.
Your new company
This university is seeking a dedicated and experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our Estates & Facilities team. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving the mechanical systems that support our vibrant academic, research, and residential environments.
Your new role
- Perform planned and reactive maintenance on mechanical systems including HVAC, boilers, pumps, and plumbing.
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to ensure minimal disruption to university operations.
- Support the safe operation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across campus.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and statutory requirements.
- Collaborate with other engineers, contractors, and university departments to deliver high-quality service.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and system performance.
What you'll need to succeed
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.
- Proven experience in mechanical maintenance, ideally within a large or complex estate.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, boilers, and plumbing infrastructure.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Understanding of health and safety practices and legislation.
- Experience in a university, hospital, or public sector environment.
- Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Gas Safe registration or relevant certification.
