A leading manufacturer in the Dungannon area is seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team. Your New Role
As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the end-to-end design and integration of components for a range of modular units, including welfare cabins and solar-powered systems. This is a hands-on position requiring strong CAD skills and technical knowledge of off-grid electrical systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- 3D Design & Documentation:
- Create detailed 3D models and assemblies using SolidWorks
- Produce accurate 2D manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and cut lists
- Optimise designs for cost-effective and efficient manufacturing
- Systems Integration:
- Specify and integrate solar PV panels, batteries, inverters, and generators
- Perform power calculations and solar yield assessments
- Source and specify components such as lighting, heating, and pumps
- Compliance & Continuous Improvement:
- Ensure designs meet relevant safety and building standards
- Maintain technical documentation and revision control
- Drive improvements in product performance and cost-efficiency
What You’ll Need to Succeed
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modelling and technical drawings
- Strong understanding of off-grid power systems (solar PV, batteries, inverters)
- Knowledge of fabrication techniques for sheet metal and structural steel
- Familiarity with electrical components and low-voltage DC systems
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to integrate multiple engineering disciplines
Desirable:
- Experience in modular building or enclosure design
- Ability to interpret and create electrical schematics
- Knowledge of UK/EU building and electrical regulations
