Teaching Assistant – BS35, South Gloucestershire
Start: ASAP Hours: Part‑time – Monday to Friday, mornings only
A friendly and supportive primary school in the BS35 area is seeking a committed Teaching Assistant to provide consistent support within a KS2 classroom. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working as part of a collaborative team and is passionate about helping pupils thrive in a structured, encouraging environment.
Role Overview
  • Provide general classroom support across the KS2 year group
  • Work closely with the class teacher to deliver differentiated activities
  • Help pupils remain focused, engaged and confident in their learning
  • Assist with group tasks, interventions and daily classroom routines
  • Support a positive learning atmosphere built on patience and encouragement
Candidate Profile
  • Previous experience supporting pupils in KS2 is highly desirable
  • Calm, adaptable and proactive approach
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly
  • Level 2/3 TA qualification advantageous
  • Experience with phonics, reading interventions or KS2 curriculum support is beneficial
Additional training valued, including:
  • Supporting pupils with additional learning needs
  • Behaviour management strategies
  • Trauma‑informed practice
  • Communication‑based training (e.g., BSL, Makaton)
  • Team Teach or de‑escalation training
