Humanities Supply Teacher – Bristol
About the Role
Hays Education is recruiting Qualified Humanities Teachers (QTS) to work on a supply basis across a variety of secondary schools in Bristol and the surrounding areas. We are looking for confident teachers specialising in any of the key Humanities subjects, including:
- History
- Geography
- Religious Studies (RS)
- Citizenship
- Sociology (where applicable)
We offer a mix of:
- Day‑to‑day supply
- Short‑term block placements
- Long‑term Humanities roles available now, after Easter, and from September

What you'll be doing
As a Humanities Supply Teacher, you will:
- Teach your specialist subject across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Deliver pre‑planned lessons and maintain student engagement
- Manage classroom behaviour professionally and with confidence
- Uphold school policies and contribute to a positive learning environment
- Adapt quickly to different schools, schemes of work and department expectations
Long‑term roles may also include planning, marking, assessment and participation in department meetings.
What you'll need to succeed
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- A specialism in History, Geography, RS, or related Humanities subject
- Experience teaching in a UK secondary school (ECT placements accepted)
- Strong behaviour management and the ability to engage mixed‑ability groups
- The right to work in the UK
- An Enhanced DBS, or willingness to apply for one
- A flexible and proactive approach to supply work
- ECTs are encouraged to apply
