Humanities Supply Teacher – Bristol

About the Role

Hays Education is recruiting Qualified Humanities Teachers (QTS) to work on a supply basis across a variety of secondary schools in Bristol and the surrounding areas. We are looking for confident teachers specialising in any of the key Humanities subjects, including:
  • History
  • Geography
  • Religious Studies (RS)
  • Citizenship
  • Sociology (where applicable)
We offer a mix of:
  • Day‑to‑day supply
  • Short‑term block placements
  • Long‑term Humanities roles available now, after Easter, and from September

What you'll be doing

As a Humanities Supply Teacher, you will:
  • Teach your specialist subject across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Deliver pre‑planned lessons and maintain student engagement
  • Manage classroom behaviour professionally and with confidence
  • Uphold school policies and contribute to a positive learning environment
  • Adapt quickly to different schools, schemes of work and department expectations
Long‑term roles may also include planning, marking, assessment and participation in department meetings.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • A specialism in History, Geography, RS, or related Humanities subject
  • Experience teaching in a UK secondary school (ECT placements accepted)
  • Strong behaviour management and the ability to engage mixed‑ability groups
  • The right to work in the UK
  • An Enhanced DBS, or willingness to apply for one
  • A flexible and proactive approach to supply work
  • ECTs are encouraged to apply
