Newly created Financial Controller opportunity supporting the owner of a rapidly growing SME in Swindon
Your new company
Hays are proudly partnered with a growing owner-managed-business based in North Swindon to appoint their first full-time Financial Controller.
The business has gone from strength to strength since starting up 15 years ago, and due to rapid growth in the last few years, the passionate owner is now seeking to hire a growth-focused professional to develop the in-house finance function, drive improvements and optimisation across the business, and act as a business partner to the leadership team.
Your new role
As Financial Controller, you'll essentially be given the autonomy to craft your own role and develop the in-house finance function.
The role will have total responsibility for managing and developing the finance function, as well as personal responsibility for accounting, management reporting, compliance, budgeting and controls, team leadership and process improvements, as well as being a key business partner for the leadership team and leading on finance projects.
This role will evolve with the business and is primed to progress to a Finance Director position as the business grows and requires another level of financial management.
What you'll need to succeed
The two most important pre-requisites for this role are that you will be a fully qualified accountant - ACA / ACCA / CIMA, and you have in-depth manufacturing accounting experience (costing, BOM, stock management).
The ability to deal with, and lead change is also essential, as this is a fast-paced, evolving "start-up" environment where it's crucial to be agile and continuous improvement focused.
