Interim controller role in Bristol with temp to perm option

The Hays Bristol finance team are currently partnering with a manufacturing business in Bristol, who are looking for an interim financial controller. The current incumbent is retiring this year and is looking for a suitable replacement.

Due to this being such an important hire for the business, our client is looking for an interim option initially, to ensure this is the right fit for all parties, with the view this could lead to a temp to permanent placement looking forwards to the new year.

The role could be part-time or full-time – if full-time, then the FC would be expected to manage the Group’s property company in addition to the Bristol manufacturing company.
This role is 100% office-based, and the business itself is roughly 5 million T/O currently there are just 2 in finance, so you will directly line manage one other finance member in the team and then report to the Director.

We are looking for a results-driven and confident Financial Controller to manage and improve the company’s financial performance and direct the accounting operations.

Duties will include:

  • Managing the accounting records,
  • Monitoring expenditure,
  • Analysing financial data,
  • Managing a small support finance team
  • Co-ordinating auditing processes
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Preparation of:
  • Monthly management accounts.
  • Monthly and sundry ad-hoc reports into Group.
  • Annual budgets.
  • Cash flow control
  • Overseeing the credit control aspects of the sales ledger.
  • Managing the supplier payment schedule.
  • Manage bank account balances in conjunction with Group Treasury.
  • Ensure internal policies, procedures and controls, which impact upon the accounting function, are adhered to by all staff.
  • Managing a small accounting team that performs day-to-day tasks on Creditor and Debtor ledgers and recording staff and payroll data.
Financial Controller Person Requirements:

  • Suitable Accounting qualification.
  • Proven experience in finance management.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting fundamentals.
  • Compliance oriented.
  • Ability to report within the reporting timetable.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software.
  • Auditing experience
