Financial Controller – Ledbury

Location: Ledbury, Herefordshire
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Reporting to: Managing Director

The Role

We are seeking a commercially astute and hands-on Financial Controller to lead our finance function and support strategic decision-making across the business. This is a pivotal role, offering the opportunity to shape financial processes, drive performance, and partner with operational teams to deliver business success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and reporting.
  • Lead the preparation of monthly management accounts and year-end statutory accounts.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls.
  • Manage relationships with auditors, banks, and external stakeholders.
  • Provide financial insight and analysis to support strategic planning and operational efficiency.
  • Lead and develop a small finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

About You

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with proven experience in a similar role, ideally within agriculture, FMCG, or manufacturing.
  • Strong technical accounting skills and commercial acumen.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in financial systems and Excel; experience with Xero or similar ERP systems is desirable.
  • Ability to work on-site in Ledbury and engage with operational teams.
