Your new role
In the role of Financial Controller, you will be a key member of the senior management team, steering the finance function to support and drive the business agenda. You will offer trusted financial advice to the Directors while leading initiatives that range from financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and statutory reporting to cash management and variance analysis. Additionally, you’ll play a pivotal role in securing and managing grant funding, helping the organisation navigate a period of high growth and substantial investment.
What you'll need to succeed
To thrive in this role, you should possess:
- Professional Credentials: Be a recently or partly qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, or ACCA) with a minimum of two years’ relevant experience.
- Commercial Acumen: A demonstrated, commercially driven mindset with real-world experience in elevating the finance function and driving financial targets.
- Financial Expertise: Proven skills in preparing annual budgets, forecasts, and monthly management accounts; strong analytical ability to interpret performance, manage cash, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Leadership & Communication: Excellent leadership qualities with the confidence to influence and inspire both colleagues and senior stakeholders, combined with top-notch communication and presentation skills.
- Tech Savvy: Proficient in MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with familiarity with accounting software (knowledge of Quickbooks is ideal but not essential) to support detailed business reporting.
- Proactive Approach: A self-starter capable of translating business needs into actionable strategies and leading change within the finance function.
